Umbra Cuscinetti, Everett, WA

Join PNAA on Thursday, October 24th at Umbra Cuscinetti’s new facility to hear from CEO Robert Collett.  At PNAA’s February Conference, Bob was recognized as the Executive of the Year.  At this Breakfast Showcase, he will review his perspective on leadership in the aerospace industry.  After the presentation, a tour of the new facility will be conducted.

Topics Include:
•    a history of Bob Collett's Aerospace Career
•    a history of the Umbra Group
•    overview of the Everett facility & capabilities
•    Umbra’s capabilities in Italy and Germany

About Bob Collett: Italian conglomerate Umbra Group wanted to see more growth from its Everett-based aerospace company when it hired General Electric’s Robert Collett to run the operation in May 2009. Collett’s experience on the manufacturing floor as well as his ability to make tough and well calculated business decisions led Umbra Cuscinetti to renewed success. Under Collett's leadership, costs came down and reliability in getting parts out the door on time went up. Umbra, which makes ball screws, drive rods and other parts for the operating surface flaps on aircraft, is well on its way to achieving a goal of doubling sales in three years. The parent company in Italy, which debated whether to keep the Everett operation going, is now considering having the facility take on fabrication of other products in its lineup.  Collett’s commitment and drive for constant change and improvement has transformed Umbra into a model of Lean Manufacturing.

Ace Co Precision Manufacturing

Someone once said, “Amateurs work until they can get it right, professionals work until they can’t get it wrong.”

This has been an operational ethos of AceCo Precision Manufacturing since its founding in 1960 Boise, Idaho. AceCo started out in industrial food knives and wood-cutting tooling bordering farmland. Today they are a nine-axis Swiss turning and five-axis turn/mill company serving the semiconductor, aerospace, medical implants, industrial blades, repair and refurbishment, and startup industries. The markets AceCo serves have expanded and changed over the years but core concepts of 100% quality, on-time delivery, and satisfaction have never changed.

What started as a family owned operation is now a thriving ESOP with divisions that specifically serve electro-mechanical testing and assembly, systems integration, engineering and design including materials, and difficult-to-machine components. AceCo completes the product in house with heat treating, finishing and ISO certified cleaning.   Read More . . .
