AS9101 Draft Review -
How will these changes impact you?
Boeing's Tony Marino reviewed the proposed changes to the AS9101 standard and discussed how these changes will impact aerospace suppliers. The AS9101 standard contains the set of requirements that define what must be done when a supplier quality management system certification audit is conducted. The coordination draft reflects the agreement reached by the IAQG team at their meeting in April and has been prepared for wide distribution and review by all industry stakeholders. Tony conducted the meeting with the intent of collecting recommendations from the audience. These recommendations will be reviewed by the IAQG team in July as possible changes to the standard.
AS9100 Rev C Draft Review:
What are the proposed changes?
Boeing's Alan Daniels reviewed the proposed changes to the AS9100 standard. The review provided insight into what is proposed for change and why the re-write committee has proposed the change. Alan also reviewed the time line for approval of the changes and what will be expected of companies currently certified to the AS9100 Rev B. Click here to view Mr. Daniel's presentation. Preparing Inexpensive Inspection Planning to Deal with the 'General notes' Profile Tolerance for 787 MBD Data
Many manufacturers are experiencing difficulties in completing the inspection requirements for 787 MBD CATIA V5 data. Inspection documentation must be done on the explicit 3D annotated dimensions and GD&T, and a secondary inspection done on the "point cloud" envelope, representing the profile tolerance specified in the general notes.
Kaae Rillos demonstrated a method to comply with the "Point Cloud" requirement using CATIA V5 and Acrobat 3D. Click here to view Mr. Rillos' PowerPoint Presentation.
How to Get the Greatest Benefit from
your AS9100 Registration
The registration process is not limited to the audit itself. Aerospace suppliers and clients of Certification Body (Registrar) services benefited from Boeing veteran Brian Simons’ extensive knowledge of the AS9104 certification process requirements, supplier responsibilities and OEM expectations. Mr. Simons brought his almost two decades of aerospace and quality experience into this discussion of how to get the most out of the registration process.
