
Washington State Department of Community Trade and Economic Development (CTED) is undergoing some significant changes. In addition to Governor Gregoire's recent signing of HB2242, renaming it The Department of Commerce, the department also has a new director.
The Department's new program, Commerce Connections, offers interested parties the opportunity to comment and make recommendations for the direction of the department. According to an interview in the News Tribune (see link below), the new director, Rogers Weed has named aerospace as one of his top two priorities for his first months in office.

On the heels of Governor Gregoire's creation of the Washington Council on Aerospace, the Washington Aerospace Partnership has come together as a "coalition of business, labor and local government leaders working to grow aerospace industry jobs in Washington" (from their web site).
The partnership is actively recruiting support in the way of new partners, and offer an eNewsletter to those interested. In addition to interesting information and data on aerospace in Washington, their web site has a page devoted to press coverage about the state of aerospace in Washington.

We (PNAA) asked our participants to weigh in on Boeing's decision to locate the 2nd 787 line in South Carolina. Within 24 hours, we had logged 44 responses, with a lot of interesting comments. Following their recent name change, The Washington State Department of Commerce (formerly Community Trade & Economic Development - CTED) has launched their newly redesigned web site at www.ChooseWashington.com. The site was totally revamped by a hardworking team of Commerce staff and developed using Microsoft SharePoint technology.
The ChooseWashington.com site elevates their efforts to showcase Washington’s competitiveness and industry sector strengths. It serves as a primary marketing and business development tool supporting their efforts to retain, expand and recruit companies to Washington. Target users of the site include site selectors and the business community.
