PNAA Events/ Meetings

As we begin our second year of this newsletter, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your involvement in PNAA.  This year's conference was a great success, our breakfast meetings have been well attended, and the recent "Tanker Survey" that we conducted through our readership provided an enlightening look at the local response to the Air Force's surprising decision.

The response to our newsletter has been overwhelmingly positive, and we're glad to be able to share our news and information with you.  If you would like to see past issues, go to our web site, where you can view archived versions of each issue.

Aerospace supply chain has some surprising weaknesses, according to recent article

Last month, we highlighted an article in Quality Digest that pointed out some suggested improvements to AS9100's ICOP (Industry Controlled Other Party) Scheme.  This month, The Flight Safety Foundation's May issue of Aero Safety World ran an article by Rick Darby points out significant quality weakness in the supply chain.

In an industry increasingly reliant on a complex and often international supply chain, a recent Department of Transportation audit pointed out some startling weaknesses that could have significant impact on the safety of the final product.  Darby points out that the FAA's risk based oversight system was designed for a supply chain model much different than the current model.  This results in a serious lack of oversight of the supply chain, allowing for potentially non-conforming product to slip into the supply chain at many different levels.

Read the article, entitled "Supply Chain's Weak Links" to find out more.
