October ITAR Seminar an Eye Opening Experience

Three PNAA representatives attended the Department of Commerce’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Seminar on October 10th. This seminar, entitled “Complying with the ITAR in the Invigorated Post-9/11 Enforcement Environment” not only explained the definitions and scope of ITAR, but also pointed out the overall lack of industry awareness of ITAR’s implications.

In our role as an educational resource for the Northwest Aerospace Industry, PNAA strives to disseminate timely information to our membership.  We feel that this topic is of special relevance, in part due to the lack of awareness in our industry.  To this end, we are planning an ITAR-related breakfast meeting, and have posted resources, including the PowerPoint presentations from the recent meeting.

September’s PNAA Breakfast Meeting
a Lesson in Getting the Most out of AS9100 Registration

Brian Simons, a 19 year veteran of Boeing, gave an eye-opening presentation to the participants at September’s Breakfast Meeting.

In addition to learning how to make the most of their AS9100 Registration experience, attendees learned how they can help ensure the continuation of the other party certification/registration system.  Mr. Simons provided an overview of the AS9104 standard, and stressed the importance of understanding the requirements under which the certification/registration bodies (registrars) operate.

Mr. Simons has generously provided his PowerPoint presentation, which contains a great deal of helpful information and links to AS9100/AS9104 resources. Click here to view this presentation as a .pdf file.
