Over 600 decision makers and strategists from the world's most influential aerospace companies attended PNAA's 17th Annual Aerospace Conference!
2018’s 17th Annual Conference saw continued growth over previous years with 623 attendees from around the globe. Executives representing over 330 companies from 10 nations gathered to hear how the aerospace industry is transforming and how they can stay ahead of their competition with the use of digital technologies, analytics, automation, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing techniques. Ten countries, 30 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces were represented at the four-day event at the Lynnwood Convention Center.
In addition to this year’s robust attendance, the lineup featured 43 expert speakers and aerospace analysts -- a 34% increase over last year. “The addition of 11 tech sessions, 24 B2B buyers and a 44 exhibitors – all record numbers – made for a banner year.” said PNAA’s Chairman Ted Croft.

The B2B Fair:
PNAA’s B2B meetings bustled with activity as suppliers from hundreds of global companies met with 24 representatives from OEMs and Tier 1-2 suppliers in 10 minute one-on-one sessions. These sessions were an opportunity for the supplier to discuss their products and services and learn about the requirements for entering the representative’s supply chain. This year, 414 connections were made during the B2B.

11 Technical Sessions Offered:
PNAA collaborated with 11 industry partners to host technical sessions on a broad range of topics including building robust shop floor processes, digital marketing, account management, change leadership, paid internships and apprenticeship programs, lights out machining, visual performance tools others and more. These one-hour sessions, presented by leaders in their fields, provided in-depth information and tools for attendees to take back into their businesses.
Four Industry Excellence Awards Presented:
Past Executive of the Year, Paul Michaels of GMN Aerospace welcomed attendees to this year’s Excellence Awards Banquet, recognizing several fellow past award winners in the audience. Over the course of the evening, four exceptional executives were recognized for their contribution to excellence in the Pacific Northwest aerospace industry.
- Inspire Award: Mary Kaye Bredeson, Center of Excellence for Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing,
- Aerospace Executive of the Year: Tim Komberec, Empire Aerospace, Empire Aviation, Empire Unmanned
- Aerospace Company of the Year: Tool Gauge, Inc.
- Chairman’s Award: Norbert Steinkemper, Niedersachsen Aviation
$31,750 in Scholarships Awarded to 22 Northwest Aerospace Students
As part of its ongoing commitment to educating the next generation of aerospace workers, PNAA awarded $31,750 in scholarships to 22 northwest students pursuing aerospace educations.
“The PNAA Scholarship Program is designed to support the educational dreams of students preparing for careers that will to take our industry into the future,” said PNAA’s Chairman Ted Croft. This year, 14 sponsors provided funding for scholarships of $1,000 for students at 11 colleges and universities in the Pacific Northwest. Twenty-two ambitious students with a love for aerospace design, maintenance and engineering are the recipients of the industry’s generosity.
